Is there any place I could buy sheet music for PM's work, especially 801 Live? I am a learning guitarist and love the sound of 801.

Not that I know of (but that usually prompts someone better informed to correct me. Happens all the time round here).

The only Phil Manzanera solo sheet music I know of is a piano vocal for Flight 19. The arrangement dissapointingly does not include the guitar riff at the start or the solo either.
I also have another book called 'New Wave Guitarists' (or something like that) This book has several pages about Phil's styles and has some transcriptions of some of his guitar playing including solo stuff and some of the Eno stuff.
I intend to put this on to the new version of VivaRoxyMusic.com if I can get permission as the book is now out of print and therefore I will not be doing someone out of a sale.
Happy New Year J.O'B.

John,
Can you supply details of this book please, so that I can try and obtain it via a library.
Thanks,
Roger

I found the book in some boxes I was going through while working on the new Viva Site. The book is called "New Wave Riffs For Guitar" by Mark Michaels. It was published in 1985 by Amsco and the ISBN number is UK ISBN 0.7119.0656.4 and USA ISBN 0.8256.2331.6 order number Amsco 36955 It is number 4 on this page: www.alibris.com/search/books/qwork/4663796/used/New%20Wave%20Riffs%20for%20the%20GuitarThe book comes with a cassette with the author playing the riffs. There are 10 pages dedicated to Phil Manzanera with notation & tab for passages from : Remote Control, Hot Spot, Numbers, K-Scope, Out Of The Blue, Whirlwind, Still Falls The Rain, Do The Strand, Can't Let Go, Burning Airlines Give You So Much More. I hope to scan these pages and put them on the new Viva site if the book is deleted and I don't upset any copyright issues. J.O'B.

Thanks John.
Amazon have some copies, but I'll try the inter-library loan route first.

I thought I might add that this book doesn't have entire passages from solos it is just the odd 4 bar phrase to explain Phil's style.
There is also a section with Robert Fripp and it has a few bars of his solo on Eno's 'Baby's On Fire'
