Just as a historical note, I seem to remember the website stating that the Manzanera Quiet Sun release was the first time on CD.
Maybe this has come up before, but I think it was actually the third time.
In 1988, Virgin Japan/Editions EG released 2800 copies on CD, one of which I have (VJD-28057).
In approximately 1996, it was released in Europe (either a British or German release). I read an article about the release, and looked at the disc in a shop.
I believe the Manzanera edition was a couple years after that.

Kevin,
As ever, these things are news to us! No-one ever tells the artists that these things happen, especially when they occur in Japan! Sony/CBS have been happily re-releasing Matching Mole CDs in Japan over the past 10-15 years as far as I can tell. Never seems to be reflected in any of my royalty payments though!

No-one ever tells the artists that these things happen, especially when they occur in Japan! Well, in the interests of freedom of information, I can point out that cdjapan have just announced they are taking pre-release orders for 'Firebird VII' in a cardboard sleeve (!): <snip> Part of a five-album Phil Manzanera cardboard sleeve reissue series featuring the albums "Live At The Place," "Guitarrissimo," "Christmas," "Southern Cross," and "The Wasted Land." <snip> Except that 'Live At The Place' (sic) appears to be 'Firebird VII' (unless there's a sixth CD that they're not even telling their customers about ...) ;D Be Well, Barry
